Surah An-Nisa’-4:60.

Have you seen those (hyprocrites) who claim that they believe in that which has been sent down to you,

and that which was sent down before you,

and they wish to go for judgement (in their disputes) to the Taghut (false judges, etc.) while they have been ordered to reject them.

But Shaitan (Satan) wishes to lead them far astray.

What is Taghut?

“(A taghoot is) everyone who exceeded his limits (whether he is) worshipped,
followed or obeyed.
So, the taaghoot of any people is the one who they make as a judge besides Allah and His Prophet,
or worship him except Allah,
or follow him without taking any consideration of Allah,
or obey him in a matter where they do not know it is an obedience for Allah.
Whosoever does not judge or turn to what the Messengers of Allah brought for judgment is eventually following a (false) deity.”

Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (d. 751H)

“E’laam Al-Muwaaqi’een,” vol. 1/50

Taghut could mean a single trangressor or a group of transgressors, which means this includes individual rulers, either in their individual, singular capacity or in group capacity by association, allegiances or alliances.

Thus coalitions, alliances, and institutions of rule, and those who implement and enforce such rule also fall in the understanding of Taghut.

Any other law other than the law of Allah subhana wa taala must be rejected in so far as it opposes the laws of Shariah

Surah Al-Baqarah-2:256.

There is no compulsion in religion.

Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path.

Whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah,

then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break.

And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.
