Who are the Quran Only (Al Quraniyoon) sect?

The Al Quraniyoon is a deviated sect, which has absolute disregard for the words of Rasulallah Sallallahu alayhi wasalam. Thus the sunnah which is preserved in the ahadith is disregarded by this sect.

The sect focuses solely on their own understanding of the Quran, disregarding the understanding, practices, and teachings of Rasulallah Sallallahu alayhi wasalam. Al Quraniyoon has innovated majorly in regards to its methodology in the understanding of the Quran, thus falls into one of the sects of bidah in our contemporary time. This sect has as well been majorly influenced by other sects who wish to destroy the sunnah of Rasulallah Sallallahu alayhi wasalam.

Sufficient evidence is found in both the Quran and Sunnah which provide sufficient clarity regarding the requirement to follow the understanding, practices, and teachings of Rasulallah Sallallahu alayhi wasalam and not just an independent understandings of the Quran.

This sect has fragmented sub-sects each one reveling it each of its findings and understandings

Revelation

There are two types of revelation which Rasulallah Sallallahu wasalam had received, this is apparent from both the Quran and the Sunnah (ahadith). The first is the Quran as revealed to RasulAllah Sallallahu alayhi wasalam. The second is that which complements the verses of the Quran and as well which reflects the understandings, practices, and teaching of Rasulallah Sallallahu alayhi wasalam.

Verses of Quran

There are many verses which reflect the interwoven nature of the Quran and Sunnah which may be reflected upon by those who ascribe to the sect in order that they may rectify themselves

1- Suran An-Nisa-4:113. Had not the Grace of Allah and His Mercy been upon you (O Muhammad Sallallahu alayhi wasalam), a party of them would certainly have made a decision to mislead you, but (in fact) they mislead none except their own selves, and no harm can they do to you in the least. Allah has sent down to you the Book (The Qur’an), and Al-Hikmah (Islamic laws, knowledge of legal and illegal things i.e. the Prophet’s Sunnah – legal ways), and taught you that which you knew not. And Ever Great is the Grace of Allah unto you (O Muhammad Sallallahu alayhi wasalam).

It is clear in this verse that the Quran(the book) and the Wisdom are two distinct aspects of revelation;

Allah has sent down to you the Book (The Qur’an),

and

Al-Hikmah (Islamic laws, knowledge of legal and illegal things i.e. the Prophet’s Sunnah – legal ways),

thus it Quran and Sunnah both which are required to be followed.

This Wisdom (Al-Hikmah) was taught to Rasulallah Sallallahu alayhi wasalam as stated in the latter part of the verse :

and taught you that which you knew not

An example of this is Salah, which method is not stated in the Quran but rather this was taught to Rasulallah Sallallahu alayhi wasalam over a period of two days. The first day the earliest times in a day when salah may be performed and the second day when the later times of salah may be performed.

Thus what has not been revealed in the Quran, is what is found in the Sunnah (Al-Hikmah) of Rasulallah Sallallahu alayhi wasalam and which has been taught to us from the authentic chain of narration.

2- In addition to the verse above which illustrates the types of revelation, there are as well modes of transmission of revelation.

Surah Ash-Shurah-42:51. . It is not given to any human being that Allah should speak to him unless (it be) by Inspiration, or from behind a veil, or (that) He sends a Messenger to reveal what He wills by His Leave. Verily, He is Most High, Most Wise.

From this verse, we are able to see there are in essence three distinct modes of transmission of revelation. What we are familiar with is the third, where, Allah subhana wa taala sends  Jibreel as a messenger to reveal to Muhammad Sallallahu alayhi wasalam whatever Allah subhana wa taala requires to be revealed (i.e.verses of Quran).

The series of events in Miraj is an example of what had been revealed but not stated in the Quran, there is an array of ayat of Quran which interweaves with the events of Miraj as stated in authentic ahadith. This is further evidenced by the method by which salah is performed and not found in the Quran.

Narrated/Authority of Ibn Abbas that Rasulallah Sallallahu alayhu wasalam the Prophet (SAW) said,
“Jibril led me in Salah twice near Bayt Allah.
The first time, we offered the Salah of Zuhr when the shadow was like the thong of a shoe. Then, we offered Asr when the shadow of everything was equal to it, and maghrib after sunset when the fasting man takes iftar (breaks his fast), and Isha when the twilight disappeared, and fajr when one who fasts is forbidden food and drink.
The second time, we offered Zuhr when the shadow of everything was like it in length at the time of Asr on the previous day. Then we offered the Asr when the shadow of everything was twice as long. We prayed Maghrib at the same time as the previous day; we prayed Isha when one-third of the night was over and Fajr when the earth was well-lit. Then Jibril turned to me and said; “O Muhammad! This was the time observed by Prophets before you, and the time (of five Salah) is between these two times.”
