Accepting the Message
In order to accept Islam and enter its fold, one has to state the declaration of faith- the Shahadah.
Islam requires ‘ritual’ purity in dress and in hygiene.
This ‘ritual’ purity of washing, is of different levels and is therefore required in different circumstances.
Washing is required after one attends to the call of nature as well as prior to performing one’s prayer. This washing is both a spiritual cleansing as well as the maintaining of physical personal hygiene.
What is the Shahadah?
The Shahadah is the declaration of faith;
“ASH-HADU ANLAA ILAHA ILLA ALLAH WA ASH HADU ANNA MUHAMMADAN ABDUHU WA RASUULUH.”
The English translation is:
“I bear witness that there is no deity worthy to be worshipped but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.”
When can one take the Shahadah?
As soon as one wishes to accept Islam, there should be no delay in a person stating the declaration of faith.
Obstacles may come to mind and delay the stating of this important declaration, avoid the obstacles. There is no guarantee of tomorrow.
