Surah Adh-Dhariyat 51:56.
And I (Allah) created not the jinns and humans except
they should worship Me (Alone).
The purpose of our life; our living, our dying is for Allah subhana wa taala alone. Thus, the key purpose and reason for our existence is to worship of Allah Subhana wa taala.
The implication of Intentionally missing Salah
Many of the scholars agree that the intentional missing of salah results in kufr as the ahadith reflects. There are other scholars who differ and there has been much discussion as to whether the missing of salah requires taking the shahadah again or would istighfaar be sufficient in order to repent and thereby perform salah. This type of discussion ensued between Imam aShafaiee and Imam Ahmad either raising their view as to the aspect of establishing regular salah.
The key issue however which should be considered is; if it is a case where we are not attending to aqeemus salah, then wouldn’t we be attending to the callings of our mind (Aql). Thus, in one instant there is a command of Allah subhana wa taala to be obeyed and on the other hand we have each our own shahawah, our mind, our desires. Should we in certain instances obey our mind (Aql), shahawah, would not such an act not result and amount to disbelief?
Then, there has succeeded them a posterity who have given up As-Salat (the prayers)
[i.e. made their Salat (prayers) to be lost,
either by not offering them or
by not offering them perfectly or
by not offering them in their proper fixed times, etc.]
and have followed lusts.
So they will be thrown in Hell.
Surah Al Anam-6:72.
And to perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat)”,
and to be obedient to Allah and fear Him,
and it is He to Whom you shall be gathered.
Buraydah ibn al-Husayb (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:
“I heard Rasulallah Sallallahu alayhi wasalam say:
‘The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is
whoever neglects it has disbelieved (become a kaafir).’”
